The short answer: Geox is an Italian brand known for one thing: shoes that breathe. Its soles let heat and moisture out while keeping water from getting in. That makes Geox a favourite for school shoes and everyday trainers that are worn all day.
If your child's feet get hot and sweaty in ordinary shoes, Geox is worth a look. Here's what makes them different, and how to pick the right pair.
What makes Geox different
Geox founder Mario Moretti Polegato developed and patented a rubber sole with a special membrane. The membrane lets water vapour (sweat) out but doesn't let water in.
For children, that matters. Feet that stay drier and cooler are more comfortable, and shoes smell less after a long school day.
Geox styles for children
- School shoes: smart black shoes built for long days in the classroom and the yard.
- Trainers and sneakers: everyday trainers, including light-up styles children love.
- Waterproof boots: some Geox boots have a waterproof membrane, handy for Irish winters. Look for "waterproof" or "Amphibiox" in the product description.
- Sandals: breathable summer styles.

Getting the size right
Geox shoes come in EU sizes. Every brand fits a little differently, so it's best to measure rather than rely on the size of your child's last pair from another brand.
- Measure both feet, standing, and go by the longer one.
- Leave about a finger's width (roughly 1 cm) at the toe.
- Check the width too: some children suit one brand's shape better than another's.
